Happy Friday everyone
Well done to all the children who created a potato character for World Book day. The creativity is amazing! They are all winners in our eyes.
We had a fun filled day sharing our favourite books and characters. The children looked fantastic in their costumes. Take a look at the photos on Twitter/Flicker. https://twitter.com/saintoswalds
Each child has brought home a book token and a card for the sponsored reading event.
Our guitar lesson this week was used to showcase the children’s ability to follow short musical pieces and what an amazing job they did!
In our English lessons this week we have used our matchbox items as a stimulus for writing. The children thought about how the item made them feel and why it is special to them. We are now writing information about why people emigrated in the past and why people might emigrate today.
During our Maths lessons we continued to work on fractions and also revised some previous maths skills. On Wednesday you received some information about the times tables check that the children will be taking part in this year. It is important that your child continues to practise their tables daily as this is a timed check in which the children are required to have rapid recall of times tables facts.
This week we used the art of Wassily Kandinsky as a stimulus for our own art work and used the colour mixing skills that we have learned in previous lessons.
Homework this week includes spelling and grammar activities and times tables practise. Homework should be returned completed by Wednesday.
Reading books – Please return your child’s reading book on Monday so that it can be changed and sent home again on Tuesday.
