Owls have had another great week! Toast monitors, Playground Rangers, Prefects, and House Captains have all been in full swing this week and are really starting to enjoy the responsibility that these roles have brought.
Well done to Christopher Nichol who was Owls 'Ozzies Champion' this week.
Our Curriculum Highlights
This week we read to the end of our class novel 'The Unforgotten coat'. We discussed some of the key themes from the text and wrote a non-chronological report on Mongolia. Ask your child to tell you some key facts about Mongolia.
In Maths, this week the children have been focusing on ordering large numbers and rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10,000 and 100,000. We will be moving on next week to look at ordering and rounding decimal numbers to 1d.p., 2d.p. and the nearest whole number. Times tables are tested daily informally and we are working on rapid recall. Please continue to practise times tables at home as it is really beneficial for your child.
The children spent some time this week using the new surfaces and Ipads which we have within school. They have been learning to code using Espresso during Computing lessons and all know their usernames and passwords if they would like to access this from home to have another go.
This week, homework and spellings have been sent home. Additionally, Year 6 children will be bringing home a 'Settling in Report'. This is a summary of how well your child has responded to Year 6, including work attitude and general behaviour. It will also include any targets for the next few weeks.
Thank you for getting homework back into school this week. Every child brought their homework folder back which is fantastic!
Thank you for all of your support
