WEDNESDAY WORD – TRUSTWORTHY

THIS WEEK – During our Come and See (R.E) activities we have been listening to and discussing Psalm 131 – I trust you God, just like a baby, safe and snug, being carried in a Mum’s arms. So I can rest in your love, so gently held, so lovingly held, so good to be in your care. I will rest in your love for me. Throughout the week, the children have continued to learn about the routines of our setting, finding out about where things live and working on our teamwork at tidy up time. We have also continued to complete our baseline assessment where the children have been completing a variety of tasks. Within our phonics session, we have worked on rhyming words and hearing initial sounds within words. We have also continued to observe how the children interact with each other during their play and by listening in on their conversations with each other. During the afternoon, we have been thinking about our senses and which parts of our bodies we need for each of our senses.
CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEKEND – Thank you for all the children’s work on the senses. This weekend we would like you to help your child to practise tuning in to the sounds that they hear at the beginning of words. Play ‘I Spy’ using a tray of objects with the children and help them to focus on the initial sound of each word.
PARENT’S DREAM - We would like you to write your dream/wish for your child whilst they are here with us in the Foundation Stage. It may be that you want them to be happy and make friends, or that you wish them to reach their full potential and enjoy learning, or it could be that you want them to be safe and happy so that they can learn and be the best that they can be. These dreams are personal to you and are about what you want for your child whilst they are in our Owlets and Eaglets class. Please return them to school on Monday so that we can add them into your child’s file. We will also use them to make a display in our area.
PRESENTATION MASS – Reminder - On Sunday the 22nd September we have our Presentation Mass. It would be lovely to see all of our new children and their families attending Mass at St Oswald’s Church at 11.00am. Deacon Paul has asked if all parents attending with their children could sit neat to the aisle as you may be asked to come out to the front during the Mass.
PE DAYS – PE day is every Friday afternoon.
INSPIRE READING MEETING – Thank you to all the parents and carers that attended the meeting. We hope that you found it beneficial. We have sent home a copy of the meeting notes with your child. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to come and speak to the class teacher. We have also included a reading support activity pack and ORT characters booklet for you to share with your children. These can be kept at home for you to keep going over the character names with your child.
IN THE MORNING – As part of our ongoing assessments we are asking that children come into school on their own. One of the criteria we need to assess the children on is how the children separate from their carer and their confidence when coming into school, so we are asking parents to encourage the children to come up the steps on their own. If you wish to speak to the teacher please could you wait until the children have come in so that we can welcome all children as they enter school.
